President's Letter 2012
To
All Rockbrook Pool current members and hopefully future members!
I am writing to introduce myself as the president of the pool board for the 2012 swim season. Overall, we had a good summer, with a few concerns raised by members at the end, which we as a board together with the community hope to alleviate in the coming months. With your help, the next season will be even better.
I want to thank the outgoing board members for their contributions to the pool and welcome our new board members – Barbara Drabik, Bill Cartwright, Jennifer Davis and Greg Vollmer. However, we cannot run this pool with only 9 people. We need feedback and support from you, the membership, in order to keep improving our pool. As board members we chair several committees, and you are more than welcome to volunteer to help a committee or provide ideas and input; or just show up to our once a month meetings to provide feedback. You can also contact us through the website or e-mail address listed at the end of this message.
Second, it is time for lifeguard applications and interviews. This year the hiring committee will have interviews completed by the middle of January 2012. The employment application is currently available on the website at http://www.rockbrookpool.com. The standard mail-in form is still available, and we just added a basic on-line application form. Lifeguard applications are due no later than December 17, 2011. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and be lifeguard and CPR certified. More information is available on the website. Please pass this along to anyone you know who is interested in lifeguarding at Rockbrook Pool for the summer.
Next, the pool will be undergoing a major maintenance task. The main pool and diving section will be painted with a 2-part epoxy in the spring, extending the life of the pool for another 12-14 years. Not only will this provide us with a fresh look, but it will also cover up any damage related to the recent vandalism incidents.
Finally, at our last board meeting we received some feedback about the swim team manager position. One suggestion that we are considering is having a parent led committee handle the job on a volunteer basis. The board will be meeting on December 13 at 7:00 pm at Rockbrook Elementary to discuss this. If you have a child on swim team and wish to volunteer, I urge you to attend or contact the board with any ideas you may have. The swim team is an important part of our Rockbrook family experience and we want to make sure we can maintain the level of fun and excellence that Anne upheld during her time as the manager.
If you have any questions, concerns or ideas please contact the board at board@rockbrookpool.com.
Thank you for continuing to be members at Rockbrook Pool, I look forward to seeing you and your family at the pool next summer.
Sincerely,
Charles Park
President, Rockbrook Swimming Pool Association Board
